Just got back from dinner with dear and dicko at amk central. I had a really bad tummyache! Was bearing with it all the way back to his place and zoom to the toilet i went! Nic, the tea finally took it's effect! Hah!
Internship at VOX
Was rushin earlier, so didnt manage to update much.
The tuesday that just past, was nic and mine first event at VOX; a D&D at Marriot. It was really an eye opener! I always knew the process of organising one till the execution was tedious but boy, being physically involve in one, is definately an experience. There's more to come! Plus many other different events, im honestly lookin foward to it! Haha except for the long working hours, heh!
Though nic and i werent totally involve right from the beginning except the execution, i certainly did learn much. Like the ability to do live feed, how it is done, tempo of music, fanfare, casher, amount of music etc, very much of the logistic part but as for the event side, coordinating and be prepared for hiccups is definately something one must be prepared for. It's very much like IG, just that it's a bigger, much bigger scale. Really am glad i chose VOX ultimately, apart from the pple and all, the part of having logistic in the company is a good thing. Im not saying the other event companies with no sound/lighting logistics or those having SIP there is at a disadvantage, just felt that, apart from learning from just events, im equally expose to the other side; which is fairly much important during an event. As for the point of the company, atleast one dont have to out source for a supplier. Any old how, each has his point of view! =)
The D&D went well, when the event ended, it was like a sigh of relief with a great sense of accomplishment! It was especially nice when joanna went round thanking all, she's the incharge for this d&d. There was no doubt hiccups here and there, like how the wonderfully nice scoreboard which nic and i did wasnt use afterall cos there were four judges, not three, the client forgot to mention to us plus sourcing for karaoke vcd at the very last min! Even the ppt slide which nic and i did, had many changes! Hah but all effor was worth it, at the end of the day, seeing the big wide smile on the client's face was satisfying.
Very much expected, pitching a job is never an easy task. It is very similar to that of our normal project including presentation. And not forgetting rushing the proposal. Nic and i havent gone for any pitching of job yet though andre did mention we will be gg one day, hopefully soon! Im excited! Hah! Went for a site inspection on wed, taking pictures for graphic use and understanding of the place well, really glad andre brought nic n i to tag along. Heh!
Today spent the whole day calling catering companies for two events. Again it was an experience, from the way you speak to one to the way you negotiate the price. But it felt even better that, it was real!! Hahahh unlike when doing for project, you're just bullshiting bout coming from a bogus company.
Heh alright really gotta go, bernard tan is sighing really loudly. Hope everything is well on all your side, we've been through one week of SIP already, very fast! Take very good care yah? Rem 7 Oct, Sat is our second classroom session. See you guys soon! Miss ya! Hugss.
